When it comes to family time - sometimes you just need to have a good time with everyone, relax, and laugh a bit. This is exactly what we had when we visited Ypsilanti and watched the Harlem Globetrotters on tour. They are still touring the US, they wind their way around the US a few times each year too! For this time I was given a pass to watch the games and am happy to share my honest review.
About the Harlem Globetrotters
According to press releases, the Harlem Globetrotters are an exhibition basketball team that combines athleticism, theater, and comedy. They've played all around the world (over 120 countries) and make their away around, touring and having good family fun.
The Harlem Globetrotters are currently touring and playing against FDS.
What to expect when watching the Harlem Globetrotters
Three things to expect at a Harlem Globetrotters game.
Arrive early! The warm up is part of the show
Be ready to laugh and particpate. This is mean to be a good time.
Expect drama, and possibly end up on the jumbo tron.
The best part
The best part is that my son really had a great time, as did the rest of us. My daughter went in with a little bit of an "attitude" as she was upset that we didn't have seats next to her cousins, but we did meet together at half time and could see them the entire time. She definitely lightened up a bit with the show tunes, drama and break dancing that we saw at the beginning of the show. Both kids didn't always realize that the game was probably slightly scripted, but I fear that if we head to a "real" game they may be disappointed that the game doesn't have as much audience interaction!
