On Saturday, December 19, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the World Food Prize Foundation invites community members to join us in person at the Hall of Laureates in Des Moines, Iowa, for the annual Holiday Open House. This year, the Foundation encourages attendees to bring donations of non-perishable food items in honor of the holiday season's spirit of giving.
Featuring festive holiday music, the Hall of Laureates hosts a welcome party to embrace the winter holiday season during this free event. Community members gather to enjoy music, holiday treats and a visit from Santa Claus. During this time, guests are invited to take a tour of the historic Hall of Laureates.
Docents will be able to share the stories and impact of the World Food Prize Foundation and Iowans in food and agriculture throughout the Open House. Attendees are welcome to enjoy the beautiful art and architecture throughout the building or sit and relax while enjoying some festive treats and music.
As hunger impacts our world, community support is more important than ever. The holiday season is an important season of giving and joining together in the spirit of alleviating hunger. For this reason, the World Food Prize humbly encourages guests to bring a non-perishable food donation. Donations will be given in support of the Des Moines community
